'We're very happy with what we've got' - first foal for Darley's blue-blooded Queen Anne winner Triple Time
Darley's regally bred Queen Anne winner Triple Time has welcomed his first foal, a filly out of multiple winning New Bay mare Lead Story.
Born at Kirtlington Stud on January 7, the filly was described by stud owner Charlie Budgett as: "A good-sized filly with good bone. We're very happy with what we've got."
The Ballylinch Stud-bred Lead Story is a a daughter of Listed Kilvington Fillies' Stakes winner Newsletter, who was also third in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and second in the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes.
Triple Time, a son of Frankel and burgeoning blue hen Reem Three, won the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot at four, but also captured the Listed Ascendant Stakes at two and Group 3 Superior Mile Stakes the following season.
He retired to Dalham Hall Stud for 2024 at a fee of £10,000 and proved highly popular. His 118 in-foal mares included Group 1 winner Fonteyn, and Dubawi's Group 2-winning half-sister Emirates Queen among ten siblings to Group 1 winners.
The six-year-old is a close relation to Prix Jean Romanet scorer Ajman Princess – also the dam of last year's Commonwealth Cup winner Inisherin – as well as Rosaline, the dam of Irish 2,000 Guineas, St James's Palace Stakes and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Rosallion, and Group 2-winning miler Ostilio.
Those three are also half-siblings to Group 3 scorer Cape Byron, stakes winners Third Realm and Captain Winters, plus Prix Saint Alary third Imperial Charm and 2024 Listed-placed Bolsena.
Triple Time has recently returned from covering duties at Darley Australia and will be on show at Dalham Hall Stud on January 15 and 16 with the other Dalham residents at midday and 2pm.
