Well-earned increase for Sea The Moon headlines Lanwades 2021 fees
Son of Sea The Stars made his Group 1 breakthrough with Alpine Star
Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud in Newmarket has released its fees for the upcoming breeding season, with headline act Sea The Moon leading the four-strong roster at £22,500.
That fee represents a well-deserved increase from the £15,000 the son of Sea The Stars stood at in 2019, having supplied his first Group 1 winner when Alpine Star landed this year's Coronation Stakes.
His roll of honour features 25 stakes performers, including the Group 2 winners Quest The Moon and Wonderful Moon, while this year's yearlings fetched up to 480,000gns, with Shadwell acquiring the colt out of Snow Ballerina at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale.
Study Of Man, the Prix du Jockey Club-winning son of Deep Impact, has had his fee clipped into £12,500 for his second season on stallion duty. He received strong support during his first year at stud, with Lanwades' Group 1-winning mares Lady Jane Digby and Madame Chiang among his debut book, while his owner-breeders the Niarchos family also sent him members of their blue-blooded broodmare band.
Bobby's Kitten, whose first two-year-old crop has yielded ten winners across five countries, including the Beresford Stakes runner-up Monaasib, will stand at £7,000, a fee he shares with the redoubtable Sir Percy.
The Derby-winning son of Mark Of Esteem is the source of 49 black-type performers, including Group 1 scorers Sir John Hawkwood and Wake Forest, while a brace of his Book 2 yearlings fetched 150,000gns apiece.
Stroud Coleman Bloodstock signed for the colt out of Leaderene, while Alex Elliott and Spicer Thoroughbreds bought the son of Willow Beck.
