War Front heads 2025 Claiborne fees with Prince Of Monaco and Bright Future new additions
Claiborne Farm have announced many of its advertised stud fees for 2025, led by the venerable War Front and with its roster enhanced by the additions of Prince Of Monaco and Bright Future.
War Front, a son of the mighty Danzig, will stand for an advertised fee of $75,000, a reduction from this year's $100,000.
He is North America's leading sire by lifetime percentage of stakes winners and Graded stakes winners. This year, he added to his impressive list of top runners with EP Taylor Stakes winner Full Count Felicia and Grade 3 winners Fort Washington, First World War and Goliad, winner of the Mint Millions Stakes.
Claibornes release of 2025 fees came just hours after the farm had announced it had secured the breeding rights to Prince Of Monaco, one of the top dirt sprinters of his class and the only son of top sire Speightstown to win a Grade 1 at two. Claiborne said he would join its roster after his retirement from racing.
The three-year-old, who won the Best Pal Stakes at Del Mar Futurity as a juvenile, is being targeted at the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Del Mar for his next start. His fee will be announced at a later date.
Bred in Kentucky by Barbara Banke's vaunted Stonestreet programme, Prince Of Monaco is out of the Medaglia d'Oro mare Rainier, a half sister to stakes winners Laurie's Rocket and Greeley's Rocket.
A a $950,000 yearling purchase, Prince Of Monaco has performed well on the east coast as a three-year-old, finishing second by half a length in the Woody Stephens Stakes at Saratoga following a seven-month layoff. He was runner-up again a month later, by a neck behind Domestic Product, in the H. Allen Jerkens Memorial Stakes.
"Running a 103 Beyer [in the Best Pal] as a two-year-old is a significant achievement and a great barometer of talent and ability," said Claiborne Farm president Walker Hancock.
"Additionally, he was beaten only a combined three-quarters of a length in two premier Grade 1 races at Saratoga this summer, while dealing with troubled trips. We have a tremendous amount of respect for Stonestreet's breeding programme and we are excited to add another one of their homebreds in Prince Of Monaco to our stallion roster."
Prince Of Monaco races for the partnership of SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Stonestreet Stables, Dianne Bashor, Robert Masterson, Waves Edge Capital, Catherine Donovan and Tom Ryan.
Bright Future, winner of the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup, will debut at $12,500. The five-year-old son of Curlin won five of his 11 career starts and earned $947,940 for owners Repole Stable and St. Elias Stables and Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher.
A dominant four-and-three-quarter-length winner on his debut going a mile at Gulfstream Park, Bright Future proceeded to win three races during his subsequent four-year-old campaign, highlighted by the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Saratoga, for which he earned a 103 Beyer Speed Figure.
Bright Future came back in 2024 to win the historic Salvator Mile Stakes at Monmouth Park, a race previously won by influential stallions Smart Strike and Distorted Humor, overcoming early traffic trouble with a powerful stretch rally on the rail to win by a length and three-quarters.
Other notable stallions on the Claiborne roster include Blame, Silver State, Annapolis, War Of Will, Demarchelier, Runhappy, First Samurai, and Lea.
War Of Will's fee is to be determined, and Lea stands for a private fee.
