US jumps trainer Leslie Young building for title challenge
The Pennsylvanian was among buyers at the Tattersalls July Sale
The extraordinary reach of the Tattersalls July Sale means that the destiny of a racehorse can swing from one corner of the globe to another at the briefest nod by a buyer to the auctioneer.
One member of this month’s catalogue will remain in leafy surroundings but in a very different location, with Hoffman, a winning middle-distance handicapper, swapping life at Andrew Balding’s Hampshire yard for the Pennsylvanian base of leading American jumps trainer Leslie Young.
Aside from last year, Young has not missed this event since 2013, using it as an opportunity to recruit suitable horses as she built up her business. Previously, she had worked for two doyens of the nation's jumps industry in Jack Fisher and Jonathan Sheppard.
