'The perfect horse tracker for the bloodstock industry' - welcome to our new app
The Progeny Tracker app has been 18 months in the making and has just gone live
The Racing Post's new and exciting Progeny Tracker app is now live in the iOS App Store. It is a unique tool aimed, first and foremost, at the bloodstock industry - though also at the wider racing industry - which allows you to track unnamed progeny through sires and dams.
It allows you to follow the progress of first-season sires who are having their first runners, as well as tracking the development of siblings on the racecourse through the dam, and much more.
It should be a very useful tool for anyone in the industry, and here Ash White from the Racing Post bloodstock commercial team provides the full picture in a Q&A.
Tell us about the thinking and development behind the Progeny Tracker app...
We wanted to produce a unique tool for the bloodstock industry, which allows industry figures to follow progeny of any stallion and any dam and, importantly, have it sent to their mobile phone on a daily basis. It's been in the pipeline for over 18 months now and I am delighted to finally bring it to market.
What is it, and what does it do?
It's an iOS app for Apple devices (Android version will follow in the near future) and is the easiest way yet to follow the progress of first-season sires and unnamed progeny via the dam, and much more. Crucially, having it all in one place on your mobile phone makes it the perfect horse tracker for the bloodstock industry.
How does one get it?
It's available to download from the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad - just click here.
Is there a cost?
No, it's completely free to download.
Who in particular might it appeal to, professionally or privately?
It should appeal to everyone in the bloodstock industry, and also the wider racing industry. In the bloodstock industry, it should be a useful tool for vendors and consignors who sell youngstock at the sales, as they can track the dam, follow the siblings' progress and can be notified when the horses they have sold hit the track, which in some cases could be three years later or even longer.
Being able to track the daily runners of a certain stallion is another feature that should appeal to everyone in the industry, as it's so important to understand which stallions are doing well with their runners at each stage of the season.
Are there any extras planned for the future?
Yes, this is by no means the final product and we hope to add some exciting new features before the end of 2021. We would love to hear from anyone with feedback or suggestions on the product; please just email progenytracker@racingpost.com
Tell us about the sponsorship from Goffs...
We have a great relationship with Goffs and they have been big supporters of the Racing Post for longer than I have been alive! Since I joined Racing Post Bloodstock in February 2019, we have built up a great relationship and I have managed their advertising requirements ever since. We are delighted to have them on board supporting the Progeny Tracker.
Who will feature early on in Ash White’s Progeny Tracker?
Churchill is the first name in my 'Tracked Sires' list, as he was a favourite of mine on the track and I think he will have a successful second half of the season with his first crop of two-year-olds.
Kodi Bear has had a great year and he's another one I am keen to follow at the moment and then, finally, like most people, Roaring Lion will be going in my tracker next year when his small and only crop of two-year-olds are due to hit the track.
As for the dams, Found is probably my favourite racemare to date and I hope she produces a top-class racehorse.
