'The bravest we own' - Prix Vermeille winner Sweet Lady to be sold at Arqana
Daughter of Lope De Vega was a three-time Group scorer for connections
Last month's Prix Vermeille winner Sweet Lady will be offered at Arqana's Vente d’Elevage, a sale that will take place from December 3-6 in Deauville.
The daughter of Lope De Vega was bred by Stratford Place Stud and sold to Paul Nataf for €100,000 from Arqana's August Yearling Sale in 2019.
In the colours of Gemini Stud, the filly won twice at two for trainer Francis Graffard before a six-length score over Prix Marcel Boussac winner Tiger Tanaka in the Listed Prix la Camargo on her first start at three.
Also the winner of the Group 3 Prix de Flore in October of that year, Sweet Lady struck in the Prix Corrida in May this year before taking the Prix Vermeille by a head from Lilac Road. The four-year-old has won six of her 14 starts and been placed a further twice.
Her trainer said: "It’s been a pleasure to train this magnificent filly for the last three years. Very brave and with a great temperament, she achieved all her objectives this year by winning the best races reserved for fillies and mares in France, the Prix Corrida and the Prix Vermeille.
"We always love going to the races with her and I’m very lucky to train her."
Gemini Stud's representative, Francis Teboul, added: "Don’t be fooled by her name Sweet Lady because she is a real warrior and the bravest horse we own!"
Sweet Lady is the seventh foal out of the Listed-winning Dansili mare High Heel Sneakers and a half-sister to two winners including Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Toujours L'Amour.
She is also one of 17 top-level winners for Lope De Vega, the Ballylinch Stud stalwart who is making a highly promising start as a broodmare sire. The 15-year-old's daughters have produced this season's Norfolk Stakes winner The Ridler and dual Group-winning juvenile and multiple Group 1-placed Persian Force.
Sweet Lady will be sold on the first evening of the sale - Saturday, December 3 - while the catalogue will be available on Monday, October 31.
