Tattersalls launches bonus scheme for Craven Breeze-Up Sale
£15,000 payout for owners of winners from the two-year-old auction
Tattersalls has launched a new £15,000 bonus for horses purchased at this year's Craven Breeze-Up Sale, which takes place from April 15-17.
The scheme, which will operate in a similar fashion to the company's £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, will award participating owners a £15,000 payout if their Craven sale purchase wins a Class 2, 3 or 4 two-year-old maiden or novice race in Britain or an ‘open’ two-year-old maiden in Ireland.
The cost to enter the £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus will be a single payment of £1,000 and the number of qualifying British and Irish maiden and novice races is expected to number around 300.
Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: “The £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus has been inspired by the enormous popularity of the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus and will make Europe’s premier two-year-olds in training sale an even more compelling fixture for owners and trainers alike.
“Winners of £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonuses will routinely collect around £20,000 in prize money for winning their maiden and in some cases more than £50,000.
“The £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme has been so well received since its inception, and the £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus reinforces our commitment at Tattersalls to encourage racehorse ownership by boosting prize-money.”
The new £15,000 Craven Breeze-Up Bonus will run alongside the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme, which has rewarded owners with more than £3 million in bonuses.
Leading breeze-up consignor John Cullinan was among those who endorsed the new incentive, saying: “Well done to Tattersalls. I know that the October Book 1 Bonus has brought more owners and trainers to Book 1 and it's wonderful that Tattersalls has extended the scheme to the Craven Breeze-Up Sale.
“Winning serious prize-money at maiden level is incredibly important and the prospect of landing a £15,000 bonus is a massive incentive for owners to target the Craven Breeze-Up.”
All two-year-olds sold, bought in or failing to meet their reserve at this year's Craven Breeze-Up Sale will be eligible for the £15,000 bonuses.
