Star juvenile Eight Rings to stand at Coolmore America following racing career
Owned and raced by the co-ownership comprised of SF Racing, LLC, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, LLC, Frederick Hertrich, III, John D. Fielding and Golconda Stables, the son of Empire Maker was acquired for $520,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Eight Rings broke his maiden at the first time of asking for Bob Baffert only to lose his rider early on in the Del Mar Futurity when sent off a hot favourite. He most recently won the Grade 1 American Pharoah Stakes at Santa Anita and is a leading candidate for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at the same Californian track.
"We are excited that Eight Rings will have the opportunity to stand at Coolmore following retirement" said Tom Ryan of SF Racing.
"As a member of the first racing stable of our co-ownership group we are particularly proud of Eight Rings and it is important to all of us that he be given the best possible chance at stud.
"We have the utmost respect for Coolmore and their ability to support world class stallion prospects, which we hope and expect Eight Rings to be."
Ashford manager Dermot Ryan added: "Eight Rings was awesome in the American Pharoah Stakes and looks to be a colt with a huge future. We’re delighted he’s going to end up in Ashford."
