Siblings to black-type winners among classy Arqana November Yearling Sale line-up
Arqana's November Yearling Sale on Saturday is the appetiser to the main course that is next week's Autumn Sale, with around 180 youngsters set to go under the hammer before withdrawals.
Among the graduates of the sale is Engaliwe, a daughter of the highly popular Galiway who captured Group 3 honours in last summer's Prix Minerve across the road from the sales complex at Deauville racecourse.
A nice selection of stallions are represented this year, ranging from established guns New Bay, Showcasing, Golden Horn, Galiway, Lawman, Kendargent and The Grey Gatsby to those with first runners this term in Romanised, Kameko, Wooded, Telecaster and Golden Horde.
Last year's event saw Nicolas de Watrigant go to €85,000 for Haras des Capucines' Override, an Almanzor colt out of a Charm Spirit half-sister to champion Zarkava.
Among the lots to note this time are Haras de Montaigu's Romanised filly out of Causa Proxima (lot 58), a stakes-placed Kendor sister to the dam of Derby hero Wings Of Eagles, and Haras d'Ombreville Victor Ludorum filly out of American Graded winner and Grade 1-placed Consumer Credit (65).
Also of interest look to be Haras du Haut Gue's Cloth Of Stars half-sister to dual Group winner and Group 1-placed Makaloun (126), and Haras de l'Hotellerie's Showcasing colt out of stakes-winning Dansili mare Martlet (130).
The sale gets under way from 11am local time (10am GMT) and the catalogue can be viewed here.
