Shock Action provides Gleneagles with first Japanese Group winner
Godolphin runner one of two winners for the sire in Japan
Gleneagles was represented with a breakthrough Group winner in Japan when Shock Action struck in the Niigata Nisai Stakes at Niigata on Sunday.
The Godolphin-owned Shock Action is already one of two winners in Japan for Coolmore's young sire and, having struck by four lengths in maiden company, produced a late rattle to win the Group 3 contest on his third start.
Bred by Scuderia Effevi Srl and Dioscuri Srl, Shock Action was sold for 65,000gns by Castletown Stud at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale in 2018. He was bought by Paca Paca Farm, the operation of Godolphin Japan president Harry Sweeney.
The colt is the first foal out of the dual Listed-winning Reset In Blue, who produced a colt by Australia in 2019 and an Intello filly this year. She has since been covered by Expert Eye.
Gleneagles, a supremely well-bred son of Galileo and superstar broodmare You'resothrilling, was notching up his third individual Group scorer and seventh stakes winner from two crops of racing age.
The dual Guineas victor and brother to Happily and Marvellous has sired the winners of 67 races to date, with Royal Lodge and July Stakes victors Royal Dornoch and Royal Lytham providing him with his biggest successes so far.
