'She had quite a bit of ability' - quality newcomers join illustrious names in Moyglare's broodmare band
Kitty Trice speaks to the team's long-time adviser Fiona Craig about some exciting mating plans

Moyglare Stud's regal broodmare band welcomes two newcomers to its fold for 2025, headed by Group 2 Prix de la Nonette winner Trevaunance.
The daughter of Muhaarar, also a winner of the Group 3 Prix de Psyche and Group 1-placed when second to India in the Preis von Europa, will have her first covering with Too Darn Hot.
Fellow newcomer, the winning Frankel filly Red Viburnum, is also Newmarket-bound from County Meath, in her case for the equally exciting Study Of Man.
Trevaunance, a daughter of Group 3 Musidora Stakes winner Liber Nauticus, is a half-sister to Listed winner Miss Celestial, while Red Viburnum is the first foal out of the stakes-winning Dubawi mare Rose De Pierre and from the powerful family of Irresistible Jewel, Royal Diamond and Mad About You.
Moyglare's long-time adviser Fiona Craig said: "It suits us to send maiden and barren mares away to the UK and these two were always likely to go.
"Study Of Man should suit Red Viburnum, she's not over-big but had quite a bit of ability. Too Darn Hot should suit Trevaunance and she has the right temperament for him too."
Liber Nauticus is due to foal to Kingman and will then visit Night Of Thunder.
Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine Homeless Songs will have her first foal soon, and the daughter of Frankel will visit Sea The Stars after foaling to Wootton Bassett.

Craig said: "She's standing in the field and waiting to foal. She's only 15.2 [hands] and so we all decided Sea The Stars would be the right decision."
Homeless Songs' dam Joailliere is heading back to Frankel, while another joining her in the unbeaten dual world champion's book is Amazing Grace, a dual Group 2 winner in Germany and a Grade 3 scorer at Gulfstream Park.
Joailliere's dam, the now 19-year-old Majestic Silver, will be covered by Minzaal.
There is plenty of promising younger talent in Eva Maria Bucher-Haefner's band too.
Federica Sophia is by Galileo and out of Polished Gem's excellent daughter Sapphire, meaning she is a half-sister to the exciting Elizabeth Jane, a stakes winner last year for Dermot Weld and who remains in training this term.
Also a half-sister to the Group 2-placed Kiss For A Jewel, who is due to Mehmas, Federica Sophia will foal to Pinatubo and will then be covered by No Nay Never.
Dual Irish St Leger heroine Search For A Song, a sister to the outstanding Kyprios, has a Baaeed yearling filly and will be covered by Wootton Bassett, while another Galileo mare, the Listed Cheshire Oaks winner Thoughts Of June, will also visit the Coolmore supersire.
Search For A Song's Listed-winning sister Amma Grace, who was not covered last year, will go to Baaeed.
The dual Group winner and Group 1 Matron Stakes third Just Beautiful will visit Dubawi after foaling to Frankel. The Pride Of Dubai mare is a half-sister to Grade 1 Belmont Oaks winner McKulick and Group 2 German 2,000 Guineas victor Fearless King.

Sonaiyla, a 900,000gns purchase from the 2020 Tattersalls December Mare Sale, won the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes and was a close third to Glass Slippers in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes. She is carrying to Baaeed and will then head to Kingman.
Craig said: "We have to get some foals from the young mares and that will tell us where we are heading with them. Give them a good chance, and if they have good foals we'll keep them to race and keep the mares."
A matriarch of Moyglare's band, Mad About You was responsible for 2024 Japanese Grade 1 winner Mad Cool, by reigning British and Irish champion sire Dark Angel.
Now 20, the Group 3 winner and multiple Group 1-placed performer by Indian Ridge is nearing retirement, although she is first due to foal a full-sibling to Mad Cool.
Craig said: "She's getting older and isn't due until May. This will probably be her last go round."
Two new sires for 2025 who will entertain Moyglare mares are Bucanero Fuerte and Vandeek.
Tally-Ho Stud's Bucanero Fuerte, winner of the Group 1 Phoenix and Group 2 Railway Stakes, will receive Anya Ylina, a winning Oasis Dream half-sister to Hong Kong Group 1 star Dominant, Group 2 Lennox Stakes victor Es Que Love and Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris winner Listen In.

Cheveley Park Stud's Group 1 Middle Park Stakes and Prix Morny winner Vandeek is set to cover Emilie Gray, a black type-placed daughter of Dubawi and the high-class Carla Bianca, herself due to visit Camelot after foaling to Night Of Thunder.
Craig said: "I saw Vandeek recently and thought he was a lovely looking horse. I saw Bucanero Fuerte race a few times, he was another very good two-year-old and good looking too.
"It's quite appealing to breed to horses like that as if you get a filly you can keep and race her, while with a colt, we'd probably take him to the sales. We did quite well with a Minzaal colt last year; if you can get a nice-looking colt, then he could sell well at the sales."
The approach paid off only on Thursday, when Moyglare were responsible for the top two lots at the Goffs February Sale, consigning yearling colts by Blue Point and Study Of Man who fetched €250,000 and €165,000 respectively.
Stars in the States
Moyglare's American-based band is led by Malavath, winner of the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte at two and second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar on her next run.
At three she won the Group 3 Prix Imprudence and also finished runner-up to Kinross in the Prix de la Foret, while at the end of that year she was knocked down to Moyglare for €3,200,000 at the Arqana December Sale.

She was first covered by Justify last year and returns to Ashford Stud's supersire in the coming months. Her pedigree received a Group 1 update last year as her Mehmas brother Scorthy Champ won the National Stakes at the Curragh. Another full-sibling, Knight, won the Group 3 Horris Hill Stakes at two in 2022 and was second to Angel Bleu in the Group 2 Celebration Mile the following season.
Lira is also a well-related sort, being a Giant's Causeway half-sister to dual Grade 1 winner Avenge who sold to Moyglare at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky. She is due to Constitution and then heads to Life Is Good, while her Uncle Mo daughter Lia Marina will go to Oscar Performance after foaling to Vino Rosso.
The Group-placed Galileo mare Kiss You Later is due to visit Constitution after foaling to Not This Time, while her own dam, Switch, has produced a filly by Nyquist this term and will head to Vekoma.
Grade 1-winning Scat Daddy mare Celestine, a $2,550,000 Keeneland November Sale purchase, is carrying to Curlin and will then visit Not This Time, while Grade 3 winner Beautiful Lover, a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 runner-up Zivo, is bound for War Front after producing a Life Is Good foal.
