A share in exciting first-season sire Zarak topped Arqana's online auction of stallion shares and breeding rights when selling to Charlie Gordon-Watson for €350,000 on Tuesday.

The purchase was the highlight of the sale, which saw eight lots offered in a virtual timed auction, with shares in the two leading French-based first-season sires the hottest commodities.

Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Zarak stands at his breeder the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval, and is the sire of Group 3 Preis der Winterkonigin winner Lizaid and the Listed Grosser Preis der Mehl-Mulhens-Stiftung winner Parnac. The son of Dubawi and champion Zarkava is also the sire of two Group 1-placed horses in his first crop of 17 winners from just 32 runners.

On the back of the impressive start made by his first crop, Zarak's fee was doubled to €25,000 for the 2022 breeding season.

Ghislain Bozo of Meridian International purchased a share in Sea The Stars' Group 1 Prix Jean Prat-winning son Zelzal for €125,000. The eight-year-old, who raced for Al Shaqab, stands at Haras de Bouquetot and is the sire of ten winners from 25 runners, headed by the Listed Prix Saraca winner Zelda.

Zelzal is bred on the same outstanding Sea The Stars - Kingmambo cross as this year's brilliant three-year-old miler Baaeed and his fee for 2022 has been increased to €15,000 from €6,000.

Haras d'Enki went to €45,000 to secure a share in up-and-coming National Hunt sire Masked Marvel, who stands under the Haras d'Etreham Obstacle banner at Haras de la Tuilerie. Masked Marvel's oldest runners are just five but he is already the sire of recent Grade 3 Fishery Lane Hurdle winner Teahupoo. The son of Montjeu is a half-brother to the Group 3 Prix Penelope winner Waldlerche, who is the dam of Waldgeist.

Jonathan Mitchell purchased breeding rights in two British-based sires in Darley's Territories and Havana Gold, who stands at Tweenhills.

Mitchell went to €36,000 to secure the right to breed a mare to Territories, the sire of Group 1 Prix de l'Opera winner Rougir from his first crop. The breeding right to Havana Gold, sire of two Listed-winning juveniles this season, made €35,000.

A breeding right in the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois winner Al Wukair, who is the sire of 13 winners in his first crop, made €42,000 to SARL Lemzar.

A share in France's champion sire Siyouni was also offered but was bought back at €620,000, while a breeding right to Whitsbury Manor Stud's Showcasing was a vendor buyback at €120,000.
