Shadwell jewels in the crown of Tattersalls February Sale

An Awtaad half-sister to champion Taghrooda is one of the star lots of an exciting Tattersalls February Sale catalogue, which is now online.

The two-year-old filly is part of a ten-strong draft offered by New England Stud on behalf of Shadwell Estates during the two-day sale which begins on Thursday, 3 February at Park Paddocks.

A total of 486 horses have been included in the sale which will be preceded by the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association (TBA) Stallion Parade, which takes place at Park Paddocks prior to the sale commencing on February 3.

A mixture of weanlings, two-year-olds, horses in training and broodmares have been assembled with a significant proportion of the catalogue consisting of Shadwell stock due to the operation's current downsizing programme.

Barton Sales has the largest draft in the catalogue with 57 horses and 40 of them are on behalf of Shadwell, comprising 30 colts and geldings in and out of training and ten fillies. They include Hamaayel, (Lot145) a three-year-old Tamayuz sister to Grade 1 EP Taylor Stakes winner Blond Me.

New England Stud offers ten juveniles of exceptional pedigrees for Shadwell, headed by the half-sister to Taghrooda (82). The draft also includes a Sea The Stars colt (80) out of Blandford Stakes winner and Oaks second Tarfasha. A colt from the first crop of Cracksman out of Sortita, a sister to Group 1 winners Schiaparelli, Samum and Salve Regina and to the dam of Sea The Moon (69) is another bound to attract plenty of interest.

Shadwell themselves will offer two broodmares and eight weanlings, including colts from the first crops of Group 1 winners Too Darn Hot (110) and Blue Point (109).

The Godolphin draft of 47 includes (170) New Style, a Street Cry half-sister to Dream Ahead and to the dam of Group 1 winner Fairyland, in foal to Kodiac, sire of that Cheveley Park and Flying Five Stakes winner. Heaven's Angel (172), a Henrythenavigator half-sister to Oaks winner Qualify, and in foal to Siyouni is another eye-catching entry from Godolphin.

Rooful (124), a four-year-old Charming Thought half-sister to Queen Anne winner Accidental Agent, is consigned by trainer Eve Johnson-Houghton.

White Marlin (375A) has been supplemented and will be consigned by Ronald Rauscher. The unbeaten son of Mastercraftsman won both his starts for Joseph O'Brien and is a half-brother to last season's Flying Five Stakes winner Romantic Proposal.

Weanlings by the likes of Group 1 sires Night Of Thunder, Teofilo, Sea The Moon and Territories are catalogued as are those from the first crops of Advertise, Eqtidaar, Inns Of Court, Land Force and Masar.
