Sea Of Class half-brother among the highlights of Tattersalls Book 2

A half-brother to the ill-fated Irish and Yorkshire Oaks winner Sea Of Class is among the elite lots included in the catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the 2019 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe runner-up, who died of ill health only last month, was sold as a yearling at Tattersalls herself and her dam, Holy Moon, has produced nine winners from as many runners, with conspicuous success in Italy.

Her latest yearling, from part of the Castlebridge Consignment, is a Golden Horn colt already named Holy Horn, who will enter the ring as lot 1039.

Other highlights from the entries include a Ballylinch Stud-consigned Lope De Vega full-brother to Belardo (899), the Dewhurst and Lockinge winner who has entered the stallion ranks. There is also a Toronado three-parts brother to the Melbourne Cup winner Rekindling (596) and a Dark Angel half-brother to the star sprinter Slade Power (997) among 107 sons and daughters of Group and Listed winning mares.

The full catalogue of Book 2 (October 14-16) is 790 yearlings, Book 3 (October 17-18) comprises 605, while Book 4 includes 137 yearlings to be sold on the morning of Saturday, October 19.

The list of stallions represented is customarily impressive and includes the likes of Dansili, Dark Angel, Exceed And Excel, Frankel, Invincible Spirit, Kingman, No Nay Never, Pivotal and Sea The Stars.

Tally-Ho Stud's Kodiac leads the way numerically at Book 2 with 49 yearlings catalogued while more than 20 first-crop sires are represented including Classic winners Awtaad, Harzand, New Bay and The Gurkha. The likes of Le Havre, Siyouni, Shalaa, Kitten’s Joy and Hard Spun contribute to the international collection.

Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony said: "The two highest rated sprinters in training in Europe, Battaash and Ten Sovereigns, were both purchased at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and Book 3 has had another outstanding year with Royal Ascot and two-year-old Group winners demonstrating the perennial quality to be found in the second week of the October Yearling Sales at Park Paddocks.
