Recent success providing impetus for Thursday's second Goresbridge National Hunt Sale
Goresbridge has attracted 15 individual winners among an initial entry of 45 for a select sale of point-to-pointers and National Hunt horses in training to be held on Thursday.
The Kilkenny auction house made a welcome return to the thoroughbred arena back in April after a break of four years, which has encouraged organiser Ed Donohoe and his team to press on with another event.
It has been given a timely boost by Epic West, who was the second most expensive lot at the opening sale when making €60,000 to Tom Malone. The winner of a maiden for Donnchadh Doyle at Belcare made a sparkling bow for Jamie Snowden by coming well clear at Carlisle last week.
This sale has been supported by plenty of the leading handlers including Patrick Turley's Blue Eyed Girl, a Blue Bresil filly who won at Loughanmore, and Aspurofthemoment from the yard of Eugene O’Sullivan, who landed an older horse maiden at Dromahane.
Leading Endeavour won for Shane Roche at Damma House and is a half-sister to David Pipe's Great Endeavour, the fine grey who landed the Paddy Power Gold Cup. The Doyle family's Monbeg Stables has Milo Miller, who was second to the Willie Mullins-trained Full Confession in a recent bumper at Fairyhouse and the Tattersalls winner Atomic Level.
Among the other catalogued winners are Champagne Avenue, Commander Of Ten, Elsa Bay, Youlita, Inbeforered, DixieMafia, Bob The Builder, Hickeys Hill, Haggard, Lynsay Larvie and Fiddledee.
With more point-to-points across the weekend, Goresbridge will allow a limited number of wildcard entries. Viewings will begin from Wednesday afternoon with the sale itself taking place at the Goresbridge complex at 1pm.
