Rajsaman, sire of dual Classic hero Brametot, moves to Longford House Stud
Son of Linamix formerly stood in France
Rajsaman, sire of dual French Classic hero Brametot, has been transferred to Longford House Stud in County Tipperary for next year's breeding season.
The 12-year-old son of Linamix started his stallion career at Haras de la Cauviniere (later renamed Montfort et Preaux) in 2013 and stood there until last year, when he was switched to Haras de Jalogny.
He was extremely popular in his early years at stud, covering 184 mares in his first season, 178 in his second and 219 in his third.
First-crop son Brametot is by far the best offspring of Rajsaman to have raced, having won the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Prix du Jockey Club and finished a respectable fifth to Enable in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in 2017. He covered his second book of mares at Haras de Bouquetot this year.
Rajsaman is also the source of Olympico and Trouble Of Course, Group/Grade 3 winners in the US and Norway respectively, as well as Listed scorer Malkoboy and Group 3 Prix de Conde runner-up Prince Hlodowig.
“He has a wonderful temperament and is a real gentleman,” said June Lewis of Longford House Stud of her new recruit. “A stud fee will be announced in due course, with a limited amount of shares still available.”
Rajsaman was a multiple Group winner over a mile in France, including when beating Byword to land the Prix du Muguet and taking the scalp of Rio De La Plata in the Prix Daniel Wildenstein.
His best effort arguably came in defeat, though, when he was third – beaten just a length – to the legends Goldikova and Cirrus Des Aigles in the Prix d'Ispahan.
Rajsaman, bred and originally raced by the Aga Khan, is out of the winning Lammtarra mare Rose Quartz and is thus a brother to Listed winner Rosawa, the dam of Prix Marcel Boussac heroine and Prix de Diane runner-up Rosanara, and a half-brother to Listed King George V Cup scorer Radanpour.
He joins another former Montfort et Preaux stallion, Air Chief Marshal, on the roster at Longford House Stud, as well as the likes of Brian Boru, Fuisse and Vinnie Roe.
