Prix Maurice de Gheest winner King Gold features among the largest ever Tattersalls Online catalogue, with 196 lots entered for the November Sale next Wednesday and Thursday.
The sale comprises of 109 horses in and out of training, 42 broodmares, 28 yearlings, 11 foals, four stores and breeding rights to Group 1 sire Ardad and leading first-season sire Sergei Prokofiev.
Consigned by Chantilly-based trainer Nicolas Caullery, King Gold is being sold as both a racing and stallion prospect. Having enjoyed success at the highest level in 2023, the entire also won consecutive renewals of the Group 3 Prix de la Porte Maillot at Longchamp including a defeat of subsequent Prix Maurice de Gheest runner-up Exxtra this year.
Among the quartet consigned by Karl Burke’s Spigot Lodge Stables are classy pair Imperial Sovereign and Cuban Tiger, with the latter a winner of the Listed Burradon Stakes this year. The former was an impressive winner on debut late last year and has run with credit at three, including when sixth in the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot behind subsequent St Leger runner-up Illinois.
The sale will also feature the Alne Park Stud partial dispersal with a draft numbering twelve broodmares and four foals.
It mares in foal to resident stallions Dink, Ocovango, Midnights Legacy and Subjectivist, two daughters of Listed winner Call Me A Star, a full-sister to Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed hurdler West Balboa, and a half-sister to Kingwell Hurdle winner and Grade 1-placed Blue Heron.
The foals on offer include a Dink filly out of a half-sister to Grade 1 performers and multiple black-type winners Bonny Kate and Mala Beach, whose dam Peppardstown Lady also features in the draft, as well as an Ocovango colt who is out of a half-sister to top-class French hurdler Tunis.
Further highlights among the breeding prospects in the sale include Fittocks Stud’s Lockerbie, a half-sister to multiple Group 3 winner and Group 1-placed Hamish offered in foal to Cracksman, Hedgeholme Stud's Cthulhu, who received a big update recently when her half-brother Gaming finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile.
Also sure to attract plenty of interest is Tweenhills Stud’s Ribblesdale Stakes-placed Sparkle Roll, a half-sister to Derby hero Wings Of Eagles who is offered in foal to exciting young sire Kameko. Other broodmares in the sale are offered to sires including Awtaad, Lope Y Fernandez, Sergei Prokofiev and State Of Rest.
Among the foals in the sale are progeny of Advertise, Stradivarius, Ten Sovereigns and Waldgeist, as well as four stores by Falco and Galileo Chrome.
There are 28 yearlings catalogued for the sale with Flat and National Hunt sires represented including A'Ali, Cotai Glory, Coulsty, Earthlight, Falco, Havana Gold, Khalifa Sat, Oasis Dream, Tasleet, Ten Sovereigns, Territories and Without Parole.
