Outstanding Book 1 catalogue unveiled featuring 519 yearlings
Leading sires Dubawi, Frankel and Galileo all well represented
The catalogue for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place on October 9-11, has been unveiled with 519 lots catalogued - including multiple offerings by leading sires Dubawi, Frankel and Galileo.
Dual world champion Frankel has 25 yearlings catalogued, while Dubawi and Galileo are responsible for 21 apiece.
In addition, the catalogue features siblings to 47 Classic and Group 1 winners and 246 stakes winners.
Colt siblings to Aclaim, Harry Angel, Kew Gardens, Sea Of Class, The Tin Man and Waldgeist are among the highlights, as are fillies related to Battaash, Beauty Parlour, Bobby's Kitten, Charming Thought, Cursory Glance, Garswood, Kew Gardens, Latrobe, Masked Marvel, Materiality, Rizeena, Shalaa and Sultanina.
Brilliant racemares who will see their first foals come under the hammer include Cursory Glance (War Front colt), Odeliz (Dubawi colt), Ribbons (Frankel filly) and Voleuse De Coeurs (Dubawi filly).
One lot sure to appeal to buyers is a Dubawi brother to So Mi Dar, Lah Ti Dar and current ante-post Derby favourite Too Darn Hot, out of the exceptional Dar Re Mi.
Other sires with strong representations are Kingman, Kodiac, Muhaarar, Sea The Stars and Siyouni.
Leading first-season sire No Nay Never has ten catalogued, Charm Spirit has three and Kingman an impressive 31, including a half-sister to champion two-year-old Rizeena and half-brother to this year's Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Waldgeist.
Devotees of first-crop yearling sires will also be spoiled for choice with 15 freshmen represented by a total of 91 yearlings led by the champion trio of Derby winner Golden Horn, dual Guineas winner Gleneagles and four-time Group 1-winning sprinter Muhaarar, who have 18, 15 and 30 yearlings catalogued respectively. Dubawi's 2,000 Guineas winner Night Of Thunder has nine to his name.
The largest consignment comes from Highclere Stud with 31 yearlings, then Newsells Park Stud with 24, followed closely by the Castlebridge Consignment with a draft of 22.
Last year's spectacular Book 1 renewal saw aggregate sales in excess of 100 million guineas with Godolphin parting with 4,000,000gns to secure the sale-topping Galileo filly out of Dank.
"The catalogue for last year’s October Book 1 was outstanding and the 2018 renewal looks to be equally special," said Edmond Mahony, chairman of Tattersalls.
"Graduates of the October Yearling Sale have as ever enjoyed enormous success on the global stage headed by 65,000gns Irish Derby winner Latrobe."
All yearlings sold will be eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme.
