Opportunity for buyers to cash in on Ardad's flying start at Tattersalls
The online sale also includes broodmares, horses in training and yearlings
Buyers at Tuesday's Tattersalls Online Sale will have the opportunity to cash in on leading first-season sire Ardad's blistering start to his stallion career, with a breeding right on offer as a wildcard entry.
Overbury Stud's son of Kodiac sired his 13th individual winner from just 29 starters to date on Saturday, with his achievements so far crowned by Perfect Power's gritty victory in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot - which followed on from his sire's Windsor Castle strike at the same meeting six years previously.
Ardad, who also won the Flying Childers Stakes for John Gosden and owner Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah, was also responsible for Coventry Stakes third Vintage Clarets, while another of his progeny, Tipperary Sunset, sold at the Goffs London Sale for £200,000 on the eve of Royal Ascot to Alain Jathiere.
It is the phenomenal start to his stallion career that will arguably most stimulate interest in the breeding right - the first to be offered at an online sale in Britain or Ireland, and listed as lot 83 - while another appealing factor will be the increasing number of mares serviced by the flourishing sire.
Overbury Stud manager Simon Sweeting said: "We’ve had a wonderful spring with Ardad, and long may it continue!
"He’s got some 90 two-year-olds, and then covered 103 mares in the next two seasons before getting tremendous support from breeders this year, when he covered 152 mares.
"Those numbers will stand him in great stead going forward and will give breeding right holders confidence that Ardad can make a big impact in the years to come."
The sale, for which bidding starts at midday and concludes at 2.44pm with the last lot, also features a diverse number of horses ranging from those in training on the Flat and over jumps to yearlings and broodmares.
Among the lots on offer are Ellmarie Holden's winning point-to-pointer Sir Jackschiaparel (lot 25), a son of Schiaparelli and from the family of Ryanair Gold Cup Novice Chase winner Kylemore Lough; the Chasemore Farm-consigned Caravaggio yearling filly (10) from the family of champion miler Rip Van Winkle; and Jamie Osborne's unraced three-year-old Zoffany colt (15) out of a half-sister to Swiss Lake.
Full details of the breeding right and registration to bid can be found on the Tattersalls website, while the catalogue is available here.
