No Nay Never quickly into stride with his first stakes winner

No Nay Never's progeny would appear to have inherited some of his precocity as the son of Scat Daddy became the first freshman sire to supply a stakes winner in Europe this year.

Servalan, sent out by Jessica Harrington and ridden by Seamie Heffernan, led home a one-two for the stable in the 6f Listed fillies' sprint at Naas on Sunday with Chicas Amigas, a daughter of Dragon Pulse, finishing second for the It's All About The Girls syndicate and Scat Daddy fillies Skitter Scatter and So Perfect a close third and fourth respectively.

The race was fittingly sponsored by Coolmore Stud, where No Nay Never is standing his fourth season at a fee of €25,000, which rose on the back of a yearling half-brother to The Wow Signal selling to JS Company for 850,000gns at Book 1 at Tattersalls last October.

Bred by Noeleen McCreevy out of the Oratorio mare Catch The Eye, Servalan was purchased by BBA Ireland for €50,000 at the Goffs Orby Sale, and raced in the colours of Vimal Khosla.

Servalan is the fourth of four foals - all by past or present Coolmore sires - out of McCreevy's Listed-placed mare Catch The Eye, who in turn is out of a winning half-sister to the 2005 Musidora Stakes winner Secret History and the Listed-placed miler Costume Designer.

No Nay Never won a 4½f maiden special weight in April of his two-year-old campaign and followed up on his next start in the 2013 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, becoming the first of many winners at that meeting for his late, great sire.

The Canadian-bred Sergei Prokofiev looks as though he could become the next for the former Ashford Stud resident after winning the preceding 5f Listed Rochestown Stakes. The Coventry Stakes favourite has now won his last two starts by an aggregate of 11 and a half lengths.

Sioux Nation, last year's Phoenix Stakes winner, bounced back to winning ways in the Group 3 Lacken Stakes, completing a stakes double for the much-lamented sire, who had to wait until August to supply his first juvenile stakes winner.

The other stakes races on the card, the Listed Owenstown Stud Stakes over 7f, went the way of Kodiac colt Brother Bear, who had threatened in Group company last year after winning the Listed Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh last May.
