Nigrum Regina a first stakes winner for Far Above with Premio Coolmore strike
Starfield Stud's first-season sire Far Above had his first stakes winner on Sunday when Nigrum Regina landed the Listed Premio Coolmore at Milan.
The two-year-old was bred by Piercetown Stud's Ronnie Boland and purchased by Beechlane Stables for €4,500 at the 2022 Goffs November Foal Sale.
She then sold to Razza Latin for €35,000 at Part Two of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale last year. The unbeaten filly is the fourth winner out of the Bertolini mare Lady Vyrnwy, a half-sister to Prix de Pomone scorer Star Lahib.
Nigrum Regina was a seven-length winner on debut three weeks ago and is currently Italy’s leading two-year-old filly.
She is one of ten individual winners for her sire, himself a winner of the Palace House Stakes and Prix Kistena during a five-race career for James Tate and Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum.
Far Above, a son of Farhh, stood this season for a fee of €5,000.
