Coolmore Stud have revealed that Luxembourg, the son of Camelot who has been a Group 1 winner at two, three, four and five, will join the National Hunt sires' division in Castlehyde Stud for the 2025 season.

Unbeaten in three runs at two, Luxembourg was installed as winter favourite for the Derby following his smooth victory in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster. He had preceded that success on Town Moor by winning the Group 2 Beresford Stakes.

At three, he ran a very good race to be third in the 2,000 Guineas on his reappearance behind the season’s leading milers Coroebus and Native Trail, but sustained an injury which saw him miss his Epsom engagement.

However, he returned in style, winning the Group 3 Royal Whip Stakes before beating plenty of fellow top-level winners in the Irish Champion Stakes. He ended that season with a respectable seventh in the Arc behind Alpinista.

Last year, Luxembourg won the Tattersalls Gold Cup and finished runner-up in three other Group 1s, including by just a short head to Romantic Warrior in the Hong Kong Cup.

Luxembourg maintained his top-flight sequence by adding this year's Coronation Cup to his CV, and he retires the winner of seven of his 19 races and with more than £2.7 million in prize-money.

“He's a very serious horse,” said trainer Aidan O’Brien following the Group 1 success at Epsom in May. “He's tough and has loads of class.”

Castlehyde's Cathal Murphy said: “We’re delighted to have Luxembourg join our team here. He has a very similar profile to the much-missed Fame And Glory, in that he's a Group 1 winner at two, three, four and five, and he's also from that wonderful Montjeu sire-line.

"Physically he ticks every box; he has all the size, scope, strength and action you could ask for, and he has shown incredible soundness and resilience throughout his extraordinary career. I've no doubt that Luxembourg will be a big hit with breeders.”

A fee will be announced in due course.
