Mr Owen signed up to Haras du Petit Tellier
Son of Invincible Spirit to stand alongside The Grey Gatsby
Mr Owen, a multiple Listed winner with an impressive pedigree, is joining the stallion roster at Haras du Petit Tellier in Normandy next year.
The six-year-old son of Invincible Spirit was bred in the US by Derry Meeting Farm out of Mrs Lindsay, a dual top-flight winner and Prix de Diane runner-up by Theatrical.
Mr Owen was originally trained by Francois Rohaut and won his maiden on his second start at three before running third to Make Believe in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and taking the Listed Prix de Tourgeville that season.
At four he added the Listed Prix Lyphard to his CV and was third in the Group 2 Prix du Muguet and second in the Group 3 Prix Messidor.
Last year at five Mr Owen was switched to the care of David Simcock, for whom he has won the Listed Prix Luthier and finished first past the post in the Group 3 Winter Derby, later demoted to second for causing interference.
The owners of Mr Owen have charged Anne-Sophie Yoh Benet with the task of managing his stallion career.
The horse will stand at Petit Tellier alongside Elvstroem and The Grey Gatsby at a fee of €3,000 with breeding rights available for €7,500, allowing one annual nomination plus a second in one of the first two years.
