Sandirella
Unibet Support Safe Gambling EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (Gbb Race) (Div I) (5.40 Kempton, Wednesday)
What's the story?
Too Darn Hot has enjoyed another banner year with his first three-year-olds, including Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Fallen Angel, while his second crop has also excelled. They are headed by Futurity Trophy scorer Hotazhell, a colt bred by Blue Diamond Stud.
Imad Al Sagar's operation unveils an exciting newcomer by the Dalham Hall Stud resident at Kempton on Wednesday in the form of Sandirella, a filly trained by John and Thady Gosden. Expectations will no doubt be high given her family's reputation.
How's she bred?
The bay is the sixth foal out of Zamindar mare Zotilla, a half-sister to Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf heroine Flotilla and French stakes winner Big Five.
The trio are out of Sinndar mare Louvain, herself a winner of the Grade 3 Miesque Stakes and a half-sister to Haydock Sprint Cup winner G Force.
Sandirella is in turn a half-sister to Mangoustine, winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches in 2022. The Dark Angel filly had also struck in the Group 3 Prix Miesque at two.
Who does she face?
Among the two-year-old's rivals is fellow debutante Glittering Surf, Peter Winkworth's homebred daughter of Oasis Dream. The filly is out of the Frankel mare Sparkling Surf, a half-sister to Prix Vermeille winner Kitesurf and Group 2 Dante Stakes third Surfman.
Of the horses with experience, Godolphin's Pearl Of Hope is entitled to come on from her debut sixth at Newmarket in September. The form of the race has worked out given the winner, Without Parole's Sea To Sky, was subsequently Listed-placed, while the fifth, Kate O'Riley, won at Wolverhampton last month.
Godolphin's homebred has the pedigree to be more than useful too, as a Dubawi half-sister to Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere hero Victor Ludorum.
