Lady Cobham still flying high after the latest success of Air Pilot
Veteran came in from the cold with Listed victory at Goodwood
It takes a certain amount of resilience to stick with a horse who took as long to deliver as Air Pilot. As demonstrated by the concerted effort made by his owner and breeder Lady Nadine Cobham in the world of business, this is an attribute she seems to have in considerable supply.
Now ten, the Ralph Beckett-trained Air Pilot struck for the first time on home soil for nearly five years in the Listed Foundation Stakes at Goodwood, on what was also his first start since mid-March.
"We were so proud of him, we were so excited that he was able to retain his ability," Lady Cobham says. "We’re never quite sure about him but Ralph Beckett had told us he was on very good form and we weren’t to worry about him. So I had to believe him and he was right."
