Kingman half-brother First Eleven sold to stand in Spain
Son of Frankel was a smart performer for John Gosden
First Eleven, a Frankel half-brother to in-demand young sire Kingman, has been acquired from Juddmonte by Yeguada Torreduero in Spain for its stallion roster.
The four-year-old, who was trained by John Gosden for Khalid Abdullah, will join the likes of Group 1-placed Noozhoh Canarias and smart sprinter Lightning Moon at the stud, located near Valladolid.
First Eleven finished second at two and established himself as a high-class handicapper at three, when he was beaten a neck into third in the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot and won the valuable Lavazza Stakes back at the track, and this season at four, when he took the Jorvik Handicap at York.
In all, he won three of his 11 starts and finished placed another four times, for prize-money earnings in excess of £120,000. He posted a peak Racing Post Rating of 116.
It is First Eleven's pedigree that defines his appeal as a stallion, though.
As well as being by dual world champion Frankel, who delivered his tenth Group/Grade 1 winner when Quadrilateral landed the Fillies' Mile on Friday, he is a half-brother to brilliant miler Kingman, whose first two crops have yielded 16 stakes winners led by Classic hero Persian King.
First Eleven and Kingman are out of Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner Zenda, a Zamindar half-sister to champion and reliable Group 1 sire Oasis Dream.
The family has achieved international recognition as another sibling to Kingman, the unraced three-year-old Delphian, was recently announced as being sold to India, while Remote, their Group 3-winning half-brother by Dansili, was earlier snapped up to stand in South America, where his first crop includes Grade 2 scorer Tabina.
An introductory stud fee for First Eleven will be announced later.
