The late son of Danehill Dancer edged ahead of Fame And Glory close home

The sire standings for the 2022 Cheltenham Festival ended with the greatly missed Jeremy claiming top honours, courtesy of wins for Sir Gerhard and Corach Rambler plus a third for Scarlet And Dove.

The last-named placing in the penultimate contest of the 28-race meeting meant Jeremy just edged the also sadly deceased Fame And Glory, who was the only other sire to get two winners.

Corach Rambler opened the account for Jeremy, the late son of Danehill Dancer, with a gritty display in the Ultima Handicap Chase on Tuesday, before Sir Gerhard maintained his unbeaten record over hurdles with an impressive victory in the Ballymore.

Fame And Glory's successes at the meeting came courtesy of big-priced Coral Cup winner Commander Of Fleet on the second day and Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle winner The Nice Guy on Friday.

A further 24 individual sires hit the board with one winner apiece as the spoils were shared out like never before.

The late Galileo, who struck with Fred Winter winner and still-entire Brazil, is also the grandsire of Triumph Hurdle winner Vauban, by Galiway, while it was an excellent week overall for Coolmore sires.

Yeats retained Stayers' Hurdle bragging rights courtesy of Flooring Porter, while Champion Bumper winner Facile Vega looked another star in the making for Walk In The Park, and the victory of Marie's Rock in the Mares' Hurdle added another string to Milan's bow.

Irish-bred runners won 15 of the 28 races, with French-breds - who claimed the Gold Cup (A Plus Tard), Champion Chase (Energumene) and Ryanair Chase (Allaho) - landing nine and the home team coming away with four prizes, headed by Champion Hurdle heroine Honeysuckle and runaway Supreme Novices' Hurdle winner Constitution Hill.
