'It's exciting' - owner Trevor Kilbey looking forward to first homebred runner
Much Loved is the first foal out of the winning mare Canford Kilbey
A small chance can create sizeable opportunities and Trevor Kilbey is looking forward to the fledgling beginnings of his breeding career this year, starting with Much Loved, a two-year-old filly out of his winning mare Canford Kilbey.
His venture into bloodstock came about as a result of a share in a then Middleham Park Racing-owned filly called Canford Kilbey, so named as he increased his share to 25 per cent.
Kilbey explains: "Back in 2014 I saw an advert while I was on holiday sitting on a sun bed and it was shares being offered in a Canford Cliffs filly. We knew Canford Cliffs as being the top dog for a couple of years before Frankel defeated him, so we had a discussion and I ended up taking a share.
