It's a heatwave! The hot two-year-olds set to make their debuts soon
Some very well-bred youngsters with entries to put in your horse tracker
The British Isles are enjoying a heatwave and the two-year-old action on the track is hotting up too.
More and more brilliantly bred juveniles are making their debuts and below are listed some of those who are entered to do so in the next week.
With the Irish Derby meeting on the horizon, and the Galileo two-year-olds reaching maturity, there are inevitably many trained by Aidan O'Brien included.
Not all will take up their entries in the coming days but they might be running in alternative races in the next few weeks, so get ready to add some names to your horse tracker...
Anthony Van Dyck
2yo b c Galileo-Believe'N'Succeed (Exceed And Excel)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
The Barronstown Stud Irish EBF Maiden over 7f at the Curragh on Sunday has a fine roll of honour – Gustav Klimt, Gleneagles, Roderic O'Connor, Kingsfort and Rip Van Winkle have won it in recent years – and it should be a cracking renewal again this year if some of the six-day entries make it to the final field.
Anthony Van Dyck is a half-brother to New Zealand Group 1-winning sprinter Bounding and is out of the high-class Australian sprinter Believe'N'Succeed, an Exceed And Excel sister to the much talked about freshman sire Kuroshio.
Axe Axelrod
2yo b c Street Sense-Please Sign In (Doc's Leader)
Trained by Richard Fahey
This 125,000gns Tattersalls Craven Breeze-up Sale purchase, entered for Hamilton on Thursday and York on Saturday, is out of a dam who has previously produced two winners at the highest level as two-year-olds – Cry And Catch Me, successful in the Oak Leaf Stakes at Santa Anita, and Certify, who took the Fillies' Mile.
Axe Axelrod is closely related to Cry And Catch Me as she is by Street Cry, and he is by Street Cry's Kentucky Derby-winning son Street Sense.
Blenheim Palace
2yo ch c Galileo-Meow (Storm Cat)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
Also entered for the Barronstown Stud maiden is this Galileo colt, out of one of the most valuable broodmares in the world in Meow.
Meow is so priceless because at the age of ten she has already produced the huge talents Churchill and Clemmie, also by Galileo, as her second and third foals.
Goddess
2yo b f Camelot-Cherry Hinton (Green Desert)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
The auspiciously named filly - co-owned by Coolmore and John Sikura - hails from the best family in the studbook, as a three-parts sister to Irish Oaks heroine Bracelet and Rockfel Stakes scorer Wading and full-sister to last week's Ribblesdale Stakes fourth Athena. She is out of Oaks fifth Cherry Hinton, by Green Desert out of Urban Sea and so a half-sister to Galileo, Sea The Stars et al.
Goddess's sophomore sire Camelot supplied a winner from each of his first two crops at Royal Ascot last week – Arthur Kitt in the Chesham Stakes and Hunting Horn in the Hampton Court. Perhaps she can continue the good run if she takes up her entry in a Curragh 7f maiden on Friday.
Harpo Marx
2yo b c Galileo-Nechita (Fastnet Rock)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
One of the battalion of Aidan O'Brien-trained entrants by Galileo in the Barronstown maiden, Harpo Marx is, like Anthony Van Dyck, from Australian roots.
He is the first foal out of Nechita, a daughter of Fastnet Rock who won the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington.
Havana Ooh Na Na
2yo ch c Havana Gold-Blanc De Chine (Dark Angel)
Trained by Karl Burke
Karl Burke splashed out 140,000gns to secure this full-brother to his Molecomb Stakes winner and Prix Morny runner-up Havana Grey on behalf of owners who are presumably fans of Camilla Cabello.
Havana Ooh Na Na, by Havana Gold out of the multiple 5f-winning Dark Angel mare Blanc De Chine, holds an entry to make his debut at Hamilton on Monday.
Hermosa
2yo b f Galileo-Beauty Is Truth (Pivotal)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
A sister to not one but two Group 1 winners in Hydrangea and The United States, all siblings being by the great Galileo out of Group 2-winning sprinter Beauty Is Truth. Another high-class half-sister, Fire Lily, is the dam of another exiting two-year-old with entries – see Jack Yeats.
We could see Hermosa in action at the Curragh on Friday.
I Am Magical
2yo b f Declaration Of War-Lady Wingshot (Lawman)
Trained by Hugo Palmer
Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar's homebred filly is by Declaration Of War – sire of this season's Classic winner Olmedo from his first crop – out of Lady Wingshot, a daughter of Lawman who won the Group 3 Fairy Bridge Stakes and was bought as a broodmare prospect on the owners' behalf by Tony Nerses for 650,000gns.
She is among the four-day entries for novice stakes at Doncaster and Newmarket on Friday.
Jack Yeats
2yo b c Galileo-Fire Lily (Dansili)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
Group 3-winning sprinter and dual Group 1 runner-up Fire Lily hasn't quite come up with the goods yet as a broodmare with neither of her first two offspring Irish Sea and Somerset Maugham – both by Galileo – having reached a winner's enclosure.
Perhaps it will be third time lucky with Jack Yeats, a colt by Galileo again who is in the six-day entries for a maiden at the Curragh on Sunday.
Karnavaal
2yo b c Dubawi-Qareenah (Arch)
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute
Hamdan Al Maktoum's homebred colt is by Dalham Hall Stud flagbearer Dubawi and is the second foal out of an Arch sister to Grade 1 winner Prince Arch, also a half-sister to National Stakes scorer Kingsfort.
He is among the four-day entries for a 7f novice stakes at Doncaster on Friday.
Lover's Knot
2yo b f Invincible Spirit-Patroness (Dubawi)
Trained by Charlie Appleby
Godolphin's Dubawi mare Patroness has hit the target with her first two foals, Group 1 Jebel Hatta winner Blair House and Newmarket Stakes scorer Key Victory, so perhaps she can repeat the trick with her third produce.
The Charlie Appleby-trained filly by Invincible Spirit – whose 16th Group 1 winner as a sire was last week's Commonwealth Cup hero Eqtidaar – holds an entry for Doncaster on Friday.
Mona Lisa's Smile
2yo b f War Front-Imagine (Sadler's Wells)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
An illustration of the faith that Coolmore and their associates have placed in leading Kentucky sire War Front as an outcross for their many high-class mares by Galileo, Montjeu and their sire Sadler's Wells.
Mona Lisa's Smile, who could run at the Curragh on Friday, is out of Irish 1,000 Guineas and Oaks heroine Imagine, making her a half-sister to the ill-fated Group 1 winner Horatio Nelson. She is set to carry the silks of joint-owner David Nagle of Barronstown Stud, who bred Imagine and her Derby-winning half-brother Generous.
Mount Everest
2yo b c Galileo-Six Perfections (Celtic Swing)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
Bred by the Niarchos family and joint-owned by them with Coolmore, could this be another star of 2018 from the Miesque family – already responsible for Alpha Centauri and Study Of Man?
Those who believe Coolmore reserve monumental names for their best horses might be inclined to think Mount Everest – by Galileo out of the outstanding racemare Six Perfections and thus a brother to the smart Faufiler and Yucatan – is one to follow. He is also entered in the Barronstown maiden.
Mount Tabora
2yo b c Scat Daddy-Canterbury Lace (Danehill)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
Many of the best Scat Daddy runners we have seen in Europe so far have been from American families, but as the late Kentucky sire had started to gain more international recognition before his untimely death we will see more final-crop two-year-olds with more familiar pedigrees.
And so Mount Tabora, entered for Saturday and Sunday, is a half-brother to high-class fillies Chachamaidee and J Wonder as well as recent Hong Kong Grade 3 winner California Whip.
Moving Moon
2yo ch f Galileo-Nell Gwyn (Danehill)
Trained by Fozzy Stack
This Galileo filly is sister to winners Gold Seal and Waver out of Nell Gwyn, a Group 3-placed Danehill sister to the mighty Rock Of Gibraltar.
She is set to represent veteran US owner Lewis Lakin – whose silks have been carried with distinction by the likes of Pure Clan and Unbridled Command – and holds an entry for a 7f fillies' maiden at the Curragh on Friday.
Norway
2yo ch c Galileo-Love Me True (Kingmambo)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
A look through Galileo's two-year-olds serves as a reminder of the awesome firepower Aidan O'Brien has at his disposal.
This Galileo colt is yet another sibling to two top-level winners – Duke Of Marmalade and Ruler Of The World in his case – and is yet another who could make his racecourse bow in the Barronstown maiden.
South Pacific
2yo b c Galileo-Tonnara (Linamix)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
This colt cost the Coolmore partners €1 million at the Arqana August Yearling Sale and no wonder, as he is a Galileo half-brother to two Group 1 winners in Most Improved and Ectot.
Another who features among the early entries for the Curragh on Sunday.
The Trader
2yo ch c Mastercraftsman-Chinese White (Dalakhani)
Trained by Mark Johnston
Not to be confused with Michael Blanshard's erstwhile sprinter, this The Trader is by Mastercraftsman – on the Royal Ascot 2018 scoresheet twice thanks to Alpha Centauri and Agrotera – out of Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes heroine Chinese White.
Presumably, The Trader is not the best-looking horse around as despite that prestigious pedigree he cost just €16,000 as a yearling. But you wouldn't put it past trainer Mark Johnston to conjure some classy form out of him regardless.
Three Card Trick
2yo ch c Piccolo-Card Games (First Trump)
Trained by Kevin Ryan
This colt is entered in a 6f novice stakes at York on Saturday and would be a suitable winner as a true son of the white rose county. He is trained in Hambleton by Kevin Ryan, was bred locally at Copgrove Hall Stud and will carry the silks of that operation's late owner Guy Reed.
Furthermore, Three Card Trick is a full-brother to Tiddliwinks, a horse whose finest hour came when he landed the Duke of York Stakes at the track for the same connections.
Zagitova
2yo ch f Galileo-Penchant (Kyllachy)
Trained by Aidan O'Brien
This Galileo half-sister to Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Garswood was knocked down to the Coolmore partners for 1,600,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year.
She could have the wraps taken off her at the Curragh on Friday.
