Irish National Stud announces 30-strong group for breeding course

The Irish National Stud has announced an intake of 30 students for its 2019 Thoroughbred Breeding Course, with students from 12 countries commencing their six-month residential training at the County Kildare stud on January 15.

Once again the well-renowned course was heavily oversubscribed with applications from all corners of the globe, with 11 of the students from Ireland, six from Britain and two each from the US and Australia, including HTBA Scholarship recipient Tyler Frazer.

The other countries represented are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and New Zealand, with Ryan Stacey in receipt of the NZTBA Scholarship.

Previous graduates of the course include the trainers Henri-Francois Devin and Michael O'Callaghan and auctioneer George Stanners.

"We were delighted with the calibre of candidates for the 2019 course and I look forward to welcoming the 30 students to the Irish National Stud in January," said Anne Channon, education development manager at the Irish National Stud.
