Lovely day as farm greets first foal by Adaay

The colt is a homebred out of a half-sister to Coulsty

Whitsbury Manor Stud in Hampshire is celebrating the arrival of the first foal by its resident Adaay - a bay colt born on Saturday morning.

The newborn is the first foal out of the two-time winner Anneani, a daughter of Bushranger, and was bred by Whitsbury Manor.

"It's great to get Adaay off the mark with a nice colt," said Whitsbury Manor stud director Ed Harper.

"The colt is bred very closely to Group 3 winner Coulsty, being out of his winning half-sister. The maiden mare is rather foal proud at the moment, but the colt looks to have lots of energy and is now bouncing round the box."

Adaay, by record-breaking sire Kodiac out of Lady Lucia, won five races for William Haggas and Shadwell, including a pair of Group 2s, the Hungerford Stakes - in which he beat Coulsty - and the Sandy Lane Stakes - in which he got the better of Limato by a length.

Adaay is due to stand the 2018 breeding season at £6,000.
