Well-bred Without Parole strolls to success on debut
Frankel half-brother to Tamarkuz gets off the mark at Newcastle
Frankel colt Without Parole made an eye-catching start to his career with a comfortable six-length success in a mile novice stakes at Newcastle on Saturday.
Kept handy by jockey Rab Havlin from the start, the juvenile tracked the progress of the leaders Blue Petal and Winged Spur.
As the race unfolded, the John Gosden-trained colt - the only newcomer in the seven-strong field - was switched out from his position to lead a furlong from home and he quickened clear to win in impressive fashion.
A homebred for John and Tanya Gunther, Without Parole is the fifth foal out of the unraced Lemon Drop Kid mare Without You Babe. That makes him a half-brother to three winners including last year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile hero Tamarkuz, who started his stallion career at Shadwell Farm in Kentucky in 2017.
Without You Babe herself is a half-sister to dual Grade 1 scorer Stay Thirsty, who stands at Ashford Stud in the US, and to Grade 3 winner Andromeda's Hero.
The success added to Frankel's 42 per cent winners-to-runners strike-rate with his juveniles in Europe this year, with his haul including the Group 2 scorer Rostropovich.
Thanks to a stellar year that was crowned by son Cracksman's stunning victory in the Champion Stakes in October, the Banstead Manor Stud resident will stand the 2018 breeding season at a career-high fee of £175,000.
