Prix du Jockey Club hero the latest sire to celebrate new arrival

Prix du Jockey Club hero New Bay is the latest stallion to have his first foal hit the ground in the shape of a colt born on Friday.

The colt is out of the winning Giant's Causeway mare Parade Music and hails from the Wildenstein family of top-class performers Protectionist, Pawneese and Stradivarius.

He was bred by owner-breeder Jean-Claude Seroul who boards his mares at Haras du Cadran in Normandy. Pierre Talvard of Haras du Cadran said: "He's a very nice colt with good bone, size and plenty of quality. After seeing his first foal I will be a sending a mare to New Bay this year."

John O'Connor, managing director of Ballylinch Stud, added: "We're delighted that an excellent breeder like Pierre is so positive about New Bay's first foal.

"New Bay received exceptional support from shareholders and breeders alike with his first book consisting of dams of or sisters to Al Wukair, Chriselliam, Lope De Vega, Luminate and Teofilo, so to hear his first foal is so well received is an excellent start for the sire."

A Khalid Abudllah homebred, New Bay was trained by Andre Fabre throughout his career to win four Group races including the Prix du Jockey Club at three.

The six-year-old son of Dubawi will stand 2018 at an unchanged fee of €20,000.
