Paco Boy sold to stand in Turkey
Sire of Galileo Gold leaves Highclere Stud
Classic-winning sire Paco Boy has been sold to continue his stallion career at the Turkish Jockey Club's Karacabey Pension Stud, in a deal brokered by Richard Venn and Edward Daly.
"The stallion was purchased by a partnership of nine people," said the Turkish Jockey Club's Ayebegum Canbolat. "His fee has not been finalised yet, but the plan is for the stallion to stand in TJK's farm in Karacabey.
"All the purchasing procedures and the following process was undertaken by Kayhan Ozcan on behalf of Turquoise Bloodstock Agency."
The 12-year-old son of Desert Style began covering duty at Highclere Stud in 2011 after a racing career that included 11 wins, three of which came at the highest level in the Prix de la Foret at three, the Queen Anne Stakes at four, and the Lockinge Stakes at five.
The undoubted highlight of his stud career to date has been Galileo Gold, who landed both the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes for trainer Hugo Palmer and owner Al Shaqab Racing.
He has also supplied the likes of Group 2 winner Beacon, Group 3 winners Rainbow Royal and Smaih, and the useful Mitchum Swagger.
Paco Boy joins Always A Classic, Banknote, Cuvee, Lion Heart, Powerscourt and Victory Gallop on the TJK roster.
