Mare in foal to Le Havre wins first race at the new Longchamp
Sire also had a one-three in the mile fillies' maiden
Haras de Montfort et Preaux was celebrating on Sunday after Do Re Mi Fa Sol, in foal to its stallion Le Havre, landed the first race at the newly renovated Longchamp, before two of his daughters completed a one-three in the following fillies' maiden.
Do Re Mi Fa Sol, a five-year-old Wootton Bassett mare, stalked the year-younger Excelebration filly Tilly's Chilli up the straight, before easing clear to win by a length and a half.
The mare raced in the colours of new owner Colin Bryce, having gone unsold for €200,000 when offered by Haras d'Etreham at last year's Arqana December Sale.
Do Re Mi Fa Sol, who won a 1m4f Listed contest at Lyon Parilly in November 2016, was subsequently covered by the son of Noverre this spring.
The fact Longchamp appeared to suit Do Re Mi Fa Sol should come as no surprise as she hails from the same family as Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Montjeu and Prix de l'Abbaye winner Goldream.
The hot spell continued for the Montfort et Preaux resident, with La Canche chased home by Victorine in third in the mile fillies' maiden half an hour later.
The winner is part-bred by her trainer Tony Clout and became the sixth winner out of the Listed-placed stayer L'Authie, a half-sister to Flat Listed winner Clety and classy hurdler Hurtevent. Ridden by Tony Piccone, La Canche was having her sixth start.
Victorine, meanwhile, is the sole runner to date for her dam, the winning Holy Roman Emperor mare Le Mezquita.
Both are daughters of Le Havre, with the latter holding future entries in the Prix Saint-Alary and Prix de Diane.
