Kempton novice stakes to be lit up by promising debutants

Returning Glory, an Exceed And Excel grandson of the 1992 Prix Saint-Alary scorer Rosefinch, is the standout newcomer in the second division of the mile novice stakes at Kempton on Wednesday evening (5.10).

The Godolphin homebred is also a half-brother to True Story, who was second in a Meydan Group 2 and third in the Dante Stakes.

Camelot colt Caradoc, out of the winning Danehill Dancer mare Applause, is another exciting debutant.

Caradoc was bought by SackvilleDonald for 270,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, and appears to be held in high regard with an early entry for next year's Derby.

Camelot has already sired a French Group 2 winner in his first season in Fighting Irish.

Of those with experience, the once-raced Shakour makes plenty of appeal as a Declaration Of War half-brother to Order Of St George and Pattern scorers Angel Terrace and Asperity. They are out of a winning daughter of champion US two-year-old filly Storm Song.

Shakour is owned by Australian breeding operation Emirates Park, who picked him up for 250,000gns at Book 1 of last year's Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Trained by John Gosden and ridden by Robert Havlin, Shakour finished a promising sixth on his only start at Wolverhampton last month and he will again be fitted with a tongue-tie.
