The Group 3 Prix de Flore winner In Clover entered the pantheon of broodmare greats on Sunday when her three-year-old Kingman daughter Friendly Soul won the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera at Longchamp.

Trained by John and Thady Gosden for her owner-breeder George Strawbridge, she is the fourth Group 1 winner the daughter of Inchinor has foaled and was emulating her Dansili half-sister We Are, who was victorious in the race a decade ago.

We Are is a full-sister to Group 1 Prix Rothschild winner With You, who was also placed in the Prix Jacques le Marois, Prix Saint-Alary and Prix Jean Romanet.

Their Frankel half-brother, Call The Wind, won the Group 1 Prix du Cadran on this weekend six years ago for Strawbridge and Freddie Head.

In addition to the quartet of Group 1 winners, In Clover is the dam of Listed Prix de la Cochere winner Dream Clover and Incahoots, who won the Listed Prix Saonois. Both of those fillies are daughters of Oasis Dream, a close relation to Friendly Soul's sire Kingman. Incahoots is notably the dam of last year's Prix de la Foret winner Kelina.

In Clover has also produced Listed Grand Prix Anjou Bretagne winner In Crowd, by Dubawi, and ordinary winner Elodie, a Dansili full-sister to With You and We Are. She has foaled Listed Prix Panacee winner Eliade, by Teofilo, the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary third Queen Trezy and the Listed-placed Elzora, both by Almanzor.

She missed to Kingman and Dubawi but foaled a full-brother to the Longchamp heroine this year and, at the age of 22, was covered by the Juddmonte sire once more.

Friendly Soul is the third three-year-old filly by Kingman to win a European Group 1 this season, following on from the victory of Elmalka in the 1,000 Guineas and Sparkling Plenty in the Prix de Diane. She was third to Friendly Soul at Longchamp on Sunday afternoon.

Kingman is now the sire of 13 individual Group/Grade 1 winners and his son Kinross would end the day with second place in the Prix de la Foret, a race he won in 2022.
