Godolphin swoop for Andre Fabre's exciting charge Mer Et Nuages
Colt had Intellogent behind when he struck at Longchamp last time out
Godolphin have purchased Andre Fabre's exciting three-year-old Mer Et Nuages from the trainer's wife Elisabeth, who bred and owned the colt.
A son of Lope De Vega, Mer Et Nuages has won conditions races over a mile and an extended nine furlongs at Longchamp and Chantilly on his two starts this year.
In his most recent victory last month he had subsequent Saint-Cloud winner Wusool in second and last week's Group 3 Prix de Guiche scorer Intellogent in third.
Mer Et Nuages will remain with Fabre, Godolphin's principal trainer across the Channel.
Lisa-Jane Graffard, Godolphin's representative in France, told Jour de Galop: “We are delighted to have him on our team as he was really impressive in his last races.
“We will discuss his future programme with Monsieur Fabre. We're not sure whether he's one for the Prix du Jockey Club, as he hasn't ever run over the distance.
“He showed a lot of class over a mile so he might perhaps take in the Prix Paul de Moussac before going to the Prix Jean Prat.”
Mer Et Nuages is out of Mahnaz, a daughter of Dansili who finished second in Listed company over an extended 12 furlongs and is a half-sister to Prix de Pomone winner and Prix Royal-Oak second Macleya and to Group 3 winner Montclair.
Godolphin bought another exciting homebred colt from Elisabeth Fabre last spring in Soleil Marin, a son of Kendargent who went on to win the Prix Noailles.
