Global hoping to make Impact on debut at Chantilly on Friday
The son of Frankel is out of a sister to champion sprinter Namid
Chantilly's opening three-year-old maiden on Friday sees Henri-Francois Devin introduce Global Impact, a speedily bred son of Frankel in the 6½f Prix des Trois Clairieres at 1.20pm local time (12.20pm GMT).
From the first crop of Frankel, Global Impact will be bidding to continue the fine record of his sire who has produced 19 individual winners to date including Japanese Grade 1 heroine Soul Stirring. The dual world champion has also supplied significant winners in France with Frankuus and Toulifaut both landing Group 3 contests at Chantilly last season.
Global Impact will carry the colours of Qatar Racing who own the three-year-old in partnership with Becky Hillen - wife of bloodstock agent Stephen Hillen - and David Redvers who bred the colt in partnership with Framont Limited.
He has twice been through the Arqana sales ring, firstly when purchased by Willie Browne of Mocklershill for €350,000 at the 2015 August Yearling Sale before being bought back by Mocklershill at last year’s Breeze-Up Sale for €280,000.
Global Impact is the fourth foal out of the Indian Ridge mare Noelani who was trained by John Oxx to claim three races from 5f to 7½f including the Group 3 Concorde Stakes and Renaissance Stakes.
The cross of Frankel with a daughter of Indian Ridge has already proved a fruitful one with Swiss Storm winning a 7f Newbury maiden last season on his second start for David Elsworth, a performance that earlier this month prompted Godolphin to buy the trainer’s half-share in the Classic contender.
A sister to Namid, crowned champion European older sprinter in 2000 after victory in the Prix de l’Abbaye, Noelani has produced two previous winners with Global Impact being a three-parts brother to Galileo colt Sufranel, runner-up in an Italian Group 3 over 1m1f, and half-brother to Natalisa, a daughter of Green Desert who was twice successful over 5f.
Last year Noelani foaled a brother to Global Impact by Frankel.
