Don Alberto help Frankel to break yet more new ground
Quiet Star became his first winner in the country on Friday
Owners Don Alberto Corporation have helped dual world champion Frankel pass yet another milestone in his stallion career, with the Chilean operation's Quiet Star becoming the sire's first winner in Argentina when winning at San Isidro on Friday.
Prior to her victory Quiet Star had finished third on debut, and she showed the benefit of that initial experience as she took command as the field entered the home straight before she sauntered to a six-length success. Quiet Star is now the second winner in South America for the unbeaten son of Galileo after Bertolina Fran, who is also owned by Don Alberto, got off the mark in Chile.
Quiet Star is the first foal out of the Giant's Causeway mare Quantify - who struck on her second start for Luca Cumani and the Coolmore partners in a 1m½f maiden at Wolverhampton in 2013. Quantify herself is a sister to Listed winner and Grade 3-placed Courtofversailles and is from the family of Grand Criterium hero Jade Robbery.
This was not the first time Don Alberto have added to the tale of Frankel's second career. It was the outfit's orange and blue silks that were carried to victory on a sunny afternoon at Newbury last year by the John Gosden-trained Cunco, who dug deep to provide Frankel with his first winner with his very first runner.
They have also played a part in the Banstead Manor Stud resident making his mark in the US, as their homebred Rubilinda was an impressive first winner for the sire there back in May.
Frankel, who recently supplied his ninth Group/Grade scorer in Last Kingdom on Thursday, came agonisingly close to gaining his first domestic Classic winner on Saturday when his son Cracksman was narrowly denied by Capri in the Irish Derby.
