First-season sire Gregorian did not have to wait long to double his tally of winners when the Bryan Smart-trained Aerosphere won on her debut at Beverley on Thursday.

Having tracked the leaders, the filly was asked for her effort by Graham Lee and duly stayed on well to win the contest by half a length.

For Gregorian, this was his second winner in the space of three days following Gypsy Spirit's success at Windsor on Monday, who became the first winner for the National Stud resident.

Race result and replay

Purchased by Smart for just 10,000gns at Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Aerosphere was bred by Crossfields Bloodstock out of the winning Rahy mare Rhal. She is a half-sister to the winners Rocket Power and Happy Queen.

Bearstone Stud have played a hand in both of Gregorian's winners so far as they bred and sold Gypsy Spirit to Tom Clover for 6,000gns and consigned Aerosphere as a yearling at the same sale.

Gregorian, winner of the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes, stands at the National Stud under the Rathasker Stud banner. The son of Clodovil, who also won the Group 3 Diomed Stakes and Group 3 Criterion Stakes, is standing this year's breeding season at a fee of £4,500.
