Arabesque and her sire sons in the spotlight after French Classic breakthrough
Camacho and Showcasing have earned their reputations the hard way
The sale of Warning to Japan in late 1996 was greeted with some surprise by outside interests. At the time he had various high-class runners on the ground including the likes of Charnwood Forest and Piccolo but, as it turned out, the horse ultimately fell short of repaying the exceptional early backing of Juddmonte Farms, leaving behind just a single Group 1 winner for his owner.
Prophecy, the filly in question, had set Warning’s stud career rolling when winning the 1993 Cheveley Park Stakes and later became an important mare for Juddmonte, primarily as the dam of top Australian performer Foreteller.
Her influence, however, grows year on year via her Listed-winning daughter Arabesque, who has thrown two increasingly important sires in Showcasing and Camacho. That is quite an achievement for any mare but made even more noteworthy in this particular instance by the fact that her sons have built their reputations from the lower end of the market.
