Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock, run by Geoffrey Howson and Matthew Houldsworth, and Billy Jackson-Stops of JS Bloodstock have formed an alliance that will see the agencies collaborate on a variety of services and a merging of a number of their respective interests.

The partnership has been formed to allow a pooling of knowledge and resources between the deeply respected Howson and two of the industry's more up-and-coming agents in Houldsworth and Jackson-Stops.

The agencies will continue to operate under their own banners but will team up to mutual benefit at times such as during the busy sales season or when operating in the ultra-competitive private market.

On the link up, Houldsworth said: "Geoffrey and I discussed how we thought we could benefit from another set of hungry eyes and Billy very much fits that profile. We have grown the business over the past few years and felt now was the right time to propose an alliance with someone very much on the up."

Howson added: "Matthew and I have enjoyed working successfully together for the past nine years – the last three as Howson & Houldsworth Bloodstock. I have always been impressed by his ambition, work ethic, enthusiasm and his ever-increasing knowledge of – and activity in – the global bloodstock industry.

"I see the same attributes in Billy and both he and Matthew are personable and articulate – very much the future of our team."

While both agencies are based in Britain, they intend to work in conjunction internationally as well as domestically. Houldsworth and Jackson-Stops have both been active at previous editions of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Broodmare Sale and are planning to attend that company's flagship yearling sale in January.

"It's hugely exciting to be working alongside Howson & Houldsworth, who are one of the most active agencies at the moment," said Jackson-Stops, whose CV includes a spell managing Godolphin's 70-horse satellite yard at Flemington in Melbourne.

"Bringing together our past experiences, knowledge and connections will be beneficial to both parties and I'm very much looking forward to expanding the businesses abroad, namely in Hong Kong and Australia."

Both outfits have been in the headlines this year, with Howson & Houldsworth tasting Classic success with Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Phoenix Of Spain, while Jackson-Stops was involved in bringing the resurgent Kuroshio back from Darley Australia to stand at Clongiffen Stud, and also saw his yearling purchase Shadn land the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes.
