How Galileo's record-breaking 85th top-level winner Peaceful was bred
Running the rule over the pedigree of Saturday's Irish 1,000 Guineas winner
Considering Galileo has covered the cream of the broodmare population for more than a decade now, it goes without saying that his record-breaking 85th Group/Grade 1 winner Peaceful hails from a fine family.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained Irish 1,000 Guineas heroine was bred by the phenomenal sire's custodians Coolmore out of the Stravinsky mare Missvinski. The dam had to do it the hard way to make it into Galileo's court, though.

Missvinski was bought by Federico Barberini for just $8,000 as a foal from the Keeneland November Breeding-Stock Sale in 2004, and was resold by Rathbarry Stud to Royal Amber for 36,000gns at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
She subsequently entered training with Jean-Claude Rouget for owner Jean-Claude Gour and won three races at two, including the Listed Prix Zeddaan at Maisons-Laffitte.
Interestingly, she had two other future dams of Guineas winners behind her that day as third home was Zut Alors, who produced 2017 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Precieuse, and fifth was Place Vendome, mother of 2013 Poule d'Essai des Poulains scorer Style Vendome.
Missvinski compiled more good form at three, winning the Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit and finishing second to Darjina in the Prix de la Grotte and Prix d'Astarte. She was also a fair fifth after finding a troubled passage in the Coronation Stakes.
At the end of her three-year-old season she was sold to race in the US for trainer Julio Canani and owner Andy Smith but she cut no ice in seven starts up to the age of five in the States.
Missvinski entered the Coolmore broodmare band when signed for by Aisling Duignan for $400,000 at the Keeneland January Sale of 2010, and was immediately sent to Galileo – to whom she has been faithful ever since.
Four runners by Galileo out of Missvinski have graced the track. Besides Peaceful they include Listed Hurry Harriet Stakes winner Easter and dual scorer El Greco, who was sold to race in Australia under the name Yulong Emperor.
Missvinski has no two-year-old produce but she is the dam of a yearling sister to Peaceful and co.
The mare is out of Miss U Fran, a daughter of Brocco, and Miss U Fran is in turn out of Careless Aly, an unraced Alydar sister to Cacoethes – winner of the Lingfield Derby Trial, King Edward VII Stakes and Belmont Turf Classic and placed behind Nashwan in the Derby and King George.
Peaceful is bred on the same Galileo-Stravinsky cross as the sire's second best offspring on Racing Post Ratings, three-time Group 1 winner Rip Van Winkle.
