'She's a lot like Treve' – hopes high as wondermare's sister offered at Arqana
The daughter of Derby winner Motivator sells in Deauville on Thursday
The rich story of dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve looks set for another intriguing chapter when her sister stars among the lots at Arqana's Select Sale on Thursday.
Treve's trainer Criquette Head cannot hide her enthusiasm for the athletic Haras du Quesnay-consigned filly, and compared the daughter of Motivator favourably to her illustrious sibling.
The legendary former trainer said: "She's a lot like Treve, but she's stronger at this stage. Is the engine there? It's a little early to tell but she's nice and has a good temperament. She's easy to handle so let's hope."
Vincent Rimaud, Haras du Quesnay's manager, added: "She's a very nice breeding prospect, she's obviously a lovely racing prospect too."
Treve did not make the most conspicuous start when she went unsold at just €22,000 at the Arqana October Yearling Sale in 2011, but her subsequent exploits means her sister is unlikely to suffer the same fate in the sales ring.
The six-time Group 1 winner has made a fine start to her second career, with her Dubawi colt Qous getting off the mark at the second time of asking at Chantilly in July. The wondermare has been given plenty of opportunities to add to that initial success in the future.
Rimaud said: "Treve has a two-year-old by Shalaa, she has a yearling filly by Siyouni, a filly foal by Sea The Stars and is in foal to Kingman."
On her siblings Terre and Trophee, he added: "We are showing the first foal out of Terre, the other full-sister to Treve, who's by Intello. He's a very nice colt. She has a filly by Siyouni and is in foal to Lope De Vega.
"Trophee, Treve's half-sister, is the dam of Frankel colt Francesco Guardi. He was a winner first time out and was then placed in a Listed race. They think a lot of him. Trophee has no yearling unfortunately but she has a foal by Siyouni and is carrying to Lope De Vega too."
