High quality catalogue revealed for the Goffs Sportsman's Sale next month
Recent graduates of the sale include Listed scorer Lady Hollywood
The catalogue for next month's Goffs Sportsman's Sale has been released, a sale that concludes a big week at Kildare Paddocks as it immediately follows the two-day Orby Sale.
Taking place on September 29 and 30 from 9.30am on both days, the sale features 524 high-class commercial yearlings, all of which are eligible for the €100,000 Goffs Sportsman’s Challenge race over six furlongs at Naas in September 2023.
Some of the standout lots are LVB Bloodstock's El Kabeir half-sister to Sweet Solera Stakes scorer Star Of Emaraaty (lot 549); Tinnakill House's Caravaggio half-sister to Prix Robert Papin winner Ventura Tormenta (599); and Railstown Stud's Starspangledbanner colt out of Cornwallis Stakes winner Ponty Acclaim (659).
The Castlebridge Consignment will offer an Oasis Dream filly (714) out of a winning full-sister to Lockinge Stakes scorer Creachadoir and half-sister to champion Youmzain; and Oghill House Stud's Belardo half-brother (743) to last year's Queen Mary Stakes winner Quick Suzy.
Other highlights include Peter Nolan's Zoffany half-brother to Prix Six Perfections winner Sydneyarms Chelsea (815); Roundhill Stud's Blue Point half-brother to Group 2 scorer Bow Creek (876); Derrinstown Stud's Tamayuz colt out of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Bethrah (877) and The Castlebridge Consignment's Calyx colt (982) out of Blue Wind Stakes winner and Tattersalls Gold Cup third Euphrasia.
A prolific source of two-year-old talent, the sale's recent graduates include last month's Marwell Stakes scorer Lady Hollywood, with the Havana Grey filly selling to Robson Aguiar for €25,000 from Oghill House Stud at last year's sale.
Goffs group chief executive Henry Beeby said: "Our inspection team has worked with Irish breeders to hand pick a quality collection of classy commercial yearlings and real two-year-old types for this year’s Sportsman’s Sale.
"The Irish National Yearling Sales week comprising the Orby and Sportsman’s Sales is simply unmissable for buyers and offers a greater selection of quality at every level."
