Haras de Bouquetot's Al Wukair has become the latest first-season stallion to sire his first winner with Curaro Light striking over six furlongs at Toulouse on Wednesday.

Curaro Light, who is out of a Redoute's Choice half-sister to Prix Kergorlay and Maurice de Nieuil scorer Verema, was purchased by Federico Barberini for €13,000 at the Arqana October Yearling Sale. The Maurizio Guarnieri-trained filly, who gained a narrow verdict on her second start, was bred by Marie-Laure Collet and Bernard Jeffroy.

Al Wukair, a son of the multiple Group 1-winning sprinter Dream, Ahead was bred by Ballylinch Stud and sold to Al Shaqab for 200,000gns at Tattersalls Book 1 in 2015.

Sent into training with Andre Fabre, Al Wukair was a dual winner at two, including when landing the Listed Prix Isonomy, and notched up a first Group win in the Prix Djebel on his three-year-old return.

His third to Churchill in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas was followed by a second in the Prix Messidor and then his first and sole top-level win in the Prix Jacques Le Marois, edging out the Godolphin pair Inns Of Court and Thunder Snow in an exciting finish.

Al Wukair retired to Haras de Bouquetot after running seventh in the Queen Elizabeth II at Ascot and currently stands for a fee of €6,000. He is represented by 73 first-crop juveniles.

Out of the winning Machiavellian mare Macheera - a half-sister to Irish and French Guineas third La Nuit Rose - he is a full-brother to Dream Today, runner-up to Ghaiyyath in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket - and a half-brother to Witches Brew, a Listed-placed daughter of Duke Of Marmalade and the dam of dual Group 3 winner Antonia De Vega.
