James Cloney was as divided as the field for the Haydock Sprint Cup as he watched the two best horses he might ever breed scrapping for Group 1 glory.

The leader of the far group represented the Irishman’s future, with Golden Horde the daughter of an inspirationally-bought mare showing abundant promise, while the eventual stands' side winner Dream Of Dreams is aptly titled as his family has funded the flagstones upon which Clara Stud has been developed.

A decade of racing life condensed into just over a minute of frenzy. Back in 2009 Cloney had completed his pharmacology degree and set off into the world of work, when he decided to join forces with his brother to buy his first mare, Vasilia.
