Grade 1-winning hurdler For Fun to join Haras de la Hetraie roster for 2021
The son of Motivator struck in the Prix Alain du Breil in June
This year's Prix Alain du Breil winner For Fun will become the first son of Racing Post Trophy and Derby hero Motivator to stand at stud when joining Haras de la Hetraie's roster for 2021.
A €12,000 purchase from Arqana's October Yearling Sale in 2017, For Fun notched up two wins over hurdles at three - including a Listed success in the Prix Le Parisien - and was also second in the Grade 3 Prix Aguado and third in the Grade 1 Prix Cambaceres.
This year, the colt shed his top-level maiden tag with a cosy success in the Prix Alain du Breil at Compiegne, seeing off the challenge of subsequent dual Grade 3 winner and Prix Renaud du Vivier second James Du Berlais.
Bred by Haras Du Quesnay, the top-class jumper is the 13th foal out of Funny Feerie and therefore a brother to Futura. For Fun is also a half-brother to Prix du Moulin victor Fuisse as well as Criterium de Saint-Cloud scorer Full Of Gold plus the useful Neil Mulholland-trained Full, the winner of two hurdle races.
Motivator is best known as the sire of the brilliant two-time Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Treve but has also produced Prix de l'Opera victress Ridasiyna and Doncaster Cup scorer Pallasator from 75 stakes performers to date.
For Fun will join a roster that includes Kapgarde, sire of dual King George VI Chase winner Clan Des Obeaux and Cheltenham Festival winner A Plus Tard, Great Pretender, whose notable offspring include Ryanair Novice Chase winner Great Field and Grade 1-winning hurdler Ptit Zig, plus German Derby and Prix Ganay victor Pastorius.
A fee and terms will be announced at a later date.
