Arrest, the Group 3 winner and Classic-placed son of Frankel, has been retired and will commence his stallion career at the Flood family's famed Boardsmill Stud in County Meath in 2025.

The four-year-old, who was runner-up to Continuous in last year's St Leger and proved his stamina as a two-year-old when second in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud, continues a rich and rewarding relationship between the Flood family and Juddmonte, that was cemented by the successful stud career of Court Cave, a Juddmonte homebred who became a Cheltenham Festival and Grade 1 sire under the management of the Boardsmill team.

John Flood said: "We're delighted to have acquired Arrest from Juddmonte, a farm we've had success buying from in the past.

"He was a high-class racehorse and is a gorgeous-looking individual, standing 16.2 hands with a wonderfully athletic walk. His good looks are borne out by the fact he was purchased as a foal by Juddmonte for €440,000."

Arrest was bred by Mariann Klay and Des Leadon and was one of a trio of Frankel colts who topped the 2020 edition of the Goffs November Foal Sale, two of them consigned by Klay and Leadon's Swordlestown Little Stud.

Sent into training with the Gosdens, Arrest was third on his debut over seven furlongs at Sandown and got off the mark over a mile on his second start, at the same track a fortnight later.

He made it two wins on the bounce with success on his next outing at Ffos Las and was then beaten a head into second by Dubai Mile in the Saint-Cloud Group 1, his first foray into black-type company.

Six lengths behind Arrest in third was Adelaide River, who would go on to be second in the Irish Derby and Grand Prix de Paris and was most recently seen finishing fourth in the Group 1 Might And Power Stakes at Caulfield in mid-October.

On his seasonal reappearance, Arrest won the Group 3 Chester Vase by six and a half lengths, with Adelaide River in second, a performance which placed him firmly in the picture for the Derby.

Sent off favourite to provide Frankie Dettori with a fairytale final ride in the Classic, a combination of ground unsuitably fast for him and the loss of a shoe scuppered his chances of Epsom glory.

He returned to winning ways in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes and followed that up with his Doncaster second.

Kept in training at four, he was runner-up in the Grand Prix de Deauville and Princess of Wales's Stakes, both Group 2 contests, and filled the same position in the Group 3 Ormonde Stakes.

Flood said: “His pedigree contains a nice blend of speed and stamina on both his sire and dam’s side. He is a son of the champion Frankel and his dam, who has produced three stakes performers to date, descends from the highly influential Roberto and Top Ville lines."

Arrest is a half-brother to Dinozzo, who won the Group 3 Centenary Vase in Hong Kong and was third in the Group 1 Hong Kong Gold Cup. He is also a half-brother to Spring Loaded, who was third in the Listed Rous Stakes.

His dam Nisriyna has a perfect record with seven winners from as many runners, and is an unraced Intikhab half-sister to the Group 3 Prix de Flore winner and Group 1 Nassau Stakes second and Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud third Narniyn.

From an Aga Khan family, his third dam Noufiyla is by Top Ville, broodmare sire of dual champion National Hunt sire Yeats and of the brilliant and influential sire Montjeu. Arrest's own broodmare sire line is that of Roberto, who is the damsire of Walk In The Park, by Montjeu.

Juddmonte bought Detain, the two-year-old Wootton Bassett half-brother of Arrest, for €340,000 from Swordlestown Little as a foal at Goffs and he was successful in his first two starts this season for the Gosdens.

Barry Mahon, Juddmonte's racing manager, said: “Arrest is a very good-looking individual with a wonderful temperament and was a very sound and clean-winded racehorse.

"We have retained some breeding rights in him and look forward to the career of his half-brother Detain, who was impressive in winning his first two starts this year.”

A fee for Arrest, who will stand alongside Poet's Word and Sumbal, will be announced in due course.
